NSW national park campgrounds reopen

June 1, 2020 - August 31, 2020 All day

In line with the easing of restrictions announced by the NSW Government, most NPWS campgrounds, cabins and cottages have reopened since Monday 1 June. Check the website before visiting your chosen campground.

All visitors must book before arrival

Bookings are now required for all campgrounds and campsites in NSW national parks, including those without camping fees. This is so we can manage numbers in each location to support social distancing. Please check if online booking is available for your chosen campground on our website. If online booking is not available, read our COVID-19 update page for more information.

Staying safe in NSW national parks

Visitors should be mindful of touch-points, practice good hygiene, stay home if unwell. Normal cleaning procedures are in place for NPWS campgrounds, but we cannot guarantee that surfaces and touch-points are sterilised. Access to sanitation products and running water also cannot be guaranteed. We recommend campers bring their own hand soap, hand wipes, toilet paper and additional drinking water. Campers are responsible for their own safety.
Remember that physical distancing is still required for all activities in NSW national parks. Current rules on public gatherings also continue to apply.

Some areas remain closed

Due to the recent bushfires and floods, some of our national parks or some sites remain closed. Some sites and attractions, as well as facilities including beaches, picnic areas and playgrounds were also closed due to the COVID-19 crisis. We are now working to reopen these sites and facilities where possible, however some may remain closed to comply with current rules on public gatherings.
Most visitor centres will reopen from today, Monday 1 June, following risk assessment processes. Most historic sites remain closed at this stage.

Tours and events

All NPWS guided tours and events remain suspended until further notice. A reduced number of tours are expected to resume mid-June. Some commercial tours and events operators are recommencing for groups of 10 people or less. Please contact the tour operator directly for more information.
Outdoor gatherings for groups of a maximum of 10 people are permitted in NSW national parks. Weddings can proceed provided they comply with current restrictions, including limits to the number of guests. No other events can proceed until further notice.

We look forward to welcoming you back to a NSW national park soon.
